Grass is grown and mown

So kids won’t moan and groan but

Play outdoors in strips.

 

He’s long since away.

But on their bench she tells him

All about her day.

 

Oh, the see-saw rides

Swings and roundabouts and slides

Of our adult lives.

 

Dogs lark in the park,

Owners ready at the mark.

Race around! Bark! Bark!

 

His statue means he’ll

Never be dead. And that birds

Will poo on his head.

 

White swans glide through life

Serene; all their hard legwork

Remaining unseen.
